The veterinary nurse is an essential link between the practicing veterinarian, his team, the clients and the patient. The activity of VN has many aspects:
- an administrative part
- to welcome the clients
- to answer phone calls
- to cover a large part of the administrative tasks of the practice
- to help and assist the veterinarian during consultations and surgeries
- to perform lab analyses
- to take care of the equipment and the premises
The training is also open to young people, who are finished with obligatory school. The training lasts 3 years, working in a veterinary practice, where the trainee will learn the practical aspect of the job. A day per week is dedicated to deepen the theoretical aspect of the training, within a school in Lausanne (for the whole french part of Switzerland). A final exam at the end of the training allows the issuing of a Federal Certificate of Proficiency (CFC).
